Adopt, don't shop..

Buyung bag was inspired by one of the street cats I picked up and cared for with great affection until he died at 13. When he was found, the small yellow and white Buyung, often referred to as "kocheng koneng" (slank words for the term 'yellow cat' in the Indonesian language), was wandering on the edge of a narrow alley and was almost run over by a passing motorbike.

Made from abaca fibre (Musa textilis), a type of banana plant whose fruit is not suitable for human consumption but has solid and beautiful leaves, the process of making Buyung bags takes more than a week. Starting from washing the leaves, drying, weaving to form a bag, and then embroidering in detail. Even so, the material for the abaca banana leaf is environmentally friendly because the processing process does not require a lot of water.

The Buyung bag has three internal pockets, accented by the embroidery of three cats, which are some of the animals we have kept and are always close to our hearts even though they are no longer in this world.
